    Remarks:
IAS files contain an excerpt from Karal Ann Marling's book entitled "The Colossus of Roads: Myth and Symbol Along the American Highway," 1984, pg. 14, and an article from the Kansas City Star, May 21, 1965, pg. 1-2, describing the transportation of the sculpture via railroad flat car from Kansas City where it was fabricated to its installation site in Brainerd, Minnesota. The trip involved five different railroads, making stops along the way starting with Missouri Pacific's yards in the industrial district of Kansas City, then Omaha, Nebraska, Rock Island, Illinois, and Northfield, Minnesota, with a special stopover in Des Moines, Iowa. Larry Lopp, the operator of the amusement park in Brainerd, commissioned the sculptor Jac T. Bowen to create the sculpture.
