    Description: 
    Bronze figure of a seated, hooded figure. The enveloping drapery covers the head and body with the exception of the face and proper right arm. The figure's proper right hand supports the chin and holds back the drapery. The figure rests on a rough stone base. The sculpture is backed with a plain block of granite and sits on a plain granite base.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture is a bronze cast of the original sculpture located in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, D.C. The cast was done by Roman Bronze Works in 1968.
    Nearby plaque: "The Adams Memorial. This is a copy of the figure in Rock Creek Church Cemetery, Washington, D.C. It was commissioned by the American historian Henry Adams for his wife's grave. Considered to be one of Saint Gaudens most important works, the monument was begun in 1887 and completed in 1891. No name was ever ascribed to the figure. As Adams said, 'Saint Gaudens held up the mirror and no more, he meant to ask a question, not to give an answer.' "
