Description:
A scrap-metal welcome sign marking the trail to Pratt Rock depicts plants growing out of a boulder, insects, birds, a squirrel, and a raccoon. The boulder is painted gray and made out of scrap plate steel and what appears to be an old fender. On one side of the boulder are two bees or hornets, with cylindrical pipe bodies, wings of fan blades, heads of engine parts, and tails of steel rod. Both are painted yellow with black stripes. Straddling over the bees is an insect, probably a mosquito, painted brown, with rod legs. Above the insects is another insect with fan blade wings, painted black. On the rear top of the boulder is a squirrel made of cutout steel plate eating a nut, painted red and black, and a plate steel raccoon painted with black and brown stripes. Rising from the center of the boulder are two plants made of green-painted pipes, with green leaves, and ten flowers made of engine fans, painted yellow, with black-painted centers. Perched or flying among the plants are various insects and birds, including a brown bird, a gray bird, and a woodpecker with black and white stripes and red head, and a flying butterfly with four fan blade wings, painted blue and white. The sculpture is set directly on the ground.
