    Description: 
    Full-length marble figure of a Confederate soldier. He wears a broad-brimmed hat, a jacket and trousers. He has a bedroll draped over his proper left shoulder. He holds a rifle with both hands, the butt of the gun rests on the ground in front of him. The marble sculpture stands atop a tall, stepped granite column. On the front face of the column is a raised relief of crossed flags; below the flags is a relief of crossed swords.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial was built by private subscription and originally stood on the Jackson County Courthouse grounds. In 1965 it was relocated to the state park and rededicated. IAS files contain copy of related souvenir program "Dedication of Civil War Markers and Jacksonport State Park", 1965, pg. 48.
