Remarks:
The gargoyle carvings, located on the Performing Arts Center and other buildings on the block, are the work of L. H. (Leon) Moore, a local businessman, contractor and sculptor, who developed "Moore block" in 1895-1987. In addition to the gargoyles, there were other sculptures by Moore on the buildings, but some of the pieces were removed and given to Pipestone Historical Society; other are now lost. The Moore block buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
