Formerly located Houses of Parliament, Clock Tower, London, England ca. 1860-1933.
    Remarks:
Gift of Katherine Pendleton Arrington. The gargoyles are thought to date to the 1860s. They were originally located at the Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament in London. Mrs. Arrington reportedly purchased them for the University when she visited London in the summer of 1933. The Clock Tower was being renovated at that time, necessitating the discard of some of the ornamental stonework. IAS files include related articles from the Chapel Hill Weekly, Dec. 8, 1933 and July 28, 1963.
