Description:  The monument depicts a soldier striding forward and carrying his rifle horizontally in front of him. He holds the rifle with both hands and steps forward with his proper right foot. He is dressed in his uniform which consists of a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, pants tucked into his boots, and a broad-brimmed hat. His gear hangs from straps that cross his body. The sculpture rests on a square granite base.
