His proper left trouser is ripped at the knee. His proper left hand grips his belt and his proper right hand hangs extended outward to the side, clenched like a claw. He looks straight ahead and slightly down with a wrinkled brow. His shirt is open to mid-chest. A helmet rests behind his proper left foot. The reliefs on the base depict: men loading a cannon; five soldiers marching, with one on a horse and another holding a flag; and wounded soldiers walking beside a nurse.
