    Remarks:
Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896) was a writer of the antislavery novel, "Uncle Tom's Cabin," published in 1851-52. It sold 300,000 copies within the first year and influenced the coming of the Civil War. She was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1910. Her portrait is one of 97 bronze busts installed along the walls of the colonnaded Beaux Arts style Hall of Fame complex which was dedicated on May 30, 1901. The Hall of Fame was founded by New York University as a Pantheon honoring historically significant American men and women. The stewardship was assumed by Bronx Community College when the property was transferred to The City University of New York in 1973. Architect Stanford White designed the complex which measures 630 feet long and alittle over 100 feet wide. IAS image files contain overview shots of the entire Hall of Fame filed under Stanford White, "Hall of Fame for Great Americans." IAS files contain a brochure from Bronx Community College which names all of those depicted in the Hall of Fame and provides a detailed floor plan of the complex.
