    Description: 
    Life-sized figure of a young man in a knave's dress. He wears a full-sleeved, knee-length tunic which bears a 3-inch border of flowers and figures. A floor-length cape attaches to the tunic with a round brooch on his proper left shoulder. He wears ankle length boots with pointed toes. His hair is worn in a page-boy style. His proper arm extends skyward; his proper left arm clasps a spray of flowers to his chest. This tunic is inscribed "and/true."

    Remarks: 
    This statue was commissioned by Mrs. Katrina Trask in memory of her four children, who all died in childhood. The figure portrays an apprentice knight, Christalan, the hero of her narrative poem of the same title (published by C.P. Putnam's Sons, NY & London's Knickerbocker Press.) In the poem, embroidered on his tunic, are the words Valiant and True (the word valiant obscured by flowers on the state). In the poem, the young man dies as a result of a valorous act which earns him knighthood on his deathbed.
