    Description: 
    At pediment center, Liberty (female figure, standing) holds a torch in her proper right hand and a round shield in her proper left. She is flanked by seated female figures of Justice (proper right, fully robed, and holding scales) and Truth (proper left, bare-breasted, and holding a mirror). Further to her right, an aged man rests his proper right hand on a stone tablet bearing the Roman numerals I through X; a youth shields the tablet. Further to Liberty's left stands a man bearing an unfurled scroll (inscribed MAGNA CHARTA) in his proper left hand. At the pediment's outermost corners, one figure group reads the law (extreme proper left) while the other shows a mother teaching principles to her children (extreme proper right).
