    Description: 
    Miller stands with her body twisted to the proper left and her proper left leg slightly bent. Her proper right arm is bent and her hand rests on her hip; her proper left arm hangs down at her side. She wears a tightly fitted costume consisting of a jacket with a deep ruffled neckline and three large buttons down the front. The cuffs are also ruffled. Her knickers are decorated with puffs which run down the outside of each leg. On her head is a cap with a feather in it. Her costume is from the roll of Sunny Peters in the 1925 play "Sunny." Sculpture is installed in a niche on the facade of the building.

    Remarks: 
    One of four figures commissioned by I. Miller for his shoe company's new building as a gift to the city of New York. A contest was held to determined which popular actresses should be chosen to represent the various performing arts. Marilyn Miller was chosen to represent "musical comedy." Inscription on wall below sculpture reads: MARILYN MILLER/AS/SUNNY.
