Memorial in Saratoga Springs, NY. It was placed in the Plaza Park in Brattleboro, VT in 1924. On September 16, 1974 the statue was stolen. It was recovered and then placed indoors at the Brooks Memorial Library. The original base remains in the park and holds plantings. IAS files contain a copy of The Vermont Phoenix (Brattleboro, VT), May 16, 1924 and the Brattleboro Reformer (May 6, 1924, Sept. 19, 1974, and Nov. 4, 1974) discussing the history of the sculpture, its vandalism and recovery.
French
sculpted the angel and it was cast by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The fountain was carved by the Presbrey-LeLand Co. from a design by Ernest S. LeLand.
A nearby marker reads: A tribute to the memory of Lyman E. Holden one of Brattleboro's ernest promoters and a faithful advocate of its highest interests. Through his efforts and generosity this plaza was created and the fountain erected as his gift. Dedicated May 6th, 1924.
