    Remarks:
The March meeting in 1919 for the town of Wilmot produced two articles that were the catalyst for the Soldiers Monument. Benjamin Emons proposed that $2,000 be provided by the citizens of Wilmot if the town matched the same amount. He would provide $1,000. The project was carried out with the monument costing a total of $5,000. The monument was erected to honor those who lost their lives in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the border troubles of 1837, the Spanish American War, and World War I. Because there was no more room on monument, after World War II two nearby stones, costing $950, were erected bearing the names of those soldiers who lost their lives in that war.
