Description:
Full-length portrait of Christopher Columbus. He wears period costume including a tunic, cape and hat. In his proper left hand he holds a scroll. His proper right hand rests on a globe. The globe stands on a pedestal directly in front of Columbus. Behind Columbus is a coil of rope and an anchor. The bronze sculpture stands on a mortared stone base.

Remarks:
The sculpture was purchased and installed by the Mater Christi Council #3352 Knights of Columbus to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of America. The sculpture was purchased from Italy. The sculpture was donated to the residents of Monroe by the Council. IAS files contain copy of related articles from Monroe Township Plain Dealer, Oct. 8 and Oct. 15, 1992.
