Description:
A short granite obelisk adorned with a relief of the Massachusetts state seal rests on top of a granite block adorned on each side with military symbols --the Union shield with draped flags; a soldier's cap, rifle, and kit bag; crossed swords; and a wheeled caisson flanked by cannonballs.

Remarks:
The monument was erected in honor of the fifty-three men from Georgetown who died during the Civil War. IAS files contain a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission Form C - Monuments questionnaire dated June 1990.
