    Curving, tubular, worm-like shape, supported at each of five dips by a pole. Enclosed by a low brick wall topped with wood supports to act as a bench surrounding sculpture on all four sides.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by the King County Arts Commission through its annual Honors Award Program. Originally created as a play sculpture for children and located in Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island. Relocated to King County's Administration Building following liability concerns about stainless steel's ability to retain heat and make surfaces too hot. Nearby plaque reads: "SANDWORM"/GEORGE TSUTAKAWA/STAINLESS STEEL/HONORS PROGRAMS/KING COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION. IAS files contain copies from Rupp, James M., "Art in Seattle's Public Places: An Illustrated Guide," Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1992, pg. 53-54, which discusses the commissioning and relocation.
