Description:
Ten Art Deco style reliefs encircle the fifth floor of the Binghamton Justice Building in Broome County, New York. Beginning at the southwest corner and moving across the front, the reliefs are: 1) "Erie 1848," the first Erie Railroad train, gazed on by a young Native-American; 2) "Law" symbols of Law, including scales of justice; 3) "Liberty" a seated allegorical figure of Liberty; 4) "The First Court 1791" seven colonial male figures representing the first court held in Broome County; 5) "Education," symbols include a kneeling man holding a globe; 6) "Transportation," symbols include two steers and an airplane; 7) "Chenango Canal," depicts a dockman; 8) "Courthouse 1857" the third Broome County Courthouse; 9) "Agriculture," symbols of farming; 10) "Industry," symbols of local industry.
