Sculpture: approx. 33 x 22 x 24 in.; Base: approx. 2 x 12 x 26 in.

Saint Peregrine kneels on his proper right leg with arms outstretched and welcoming. His proper left calf is bandaged. He is dressed in a monk's robe with a rope belt and bare feet. The sculpture is mounted on a tapered wooden platform built with logs. A small roof covers the sculpture.

Saint Peregrine was a Servite Friar who lived in the latter part of the 13th century in Forti, Italy. He is known as the "Cancer Saint" because he was miraculously cured of cancer in later life. A nearby plaque reads: Saint Peregrine/Patron of/Cancer Patients. IAS files contain a brochure from The Cross in the Woods shrine.
