    Full-length figure of San Fernando (1199-1252), wearing a crown, tunic, and robe that drapes to his feet. His proper right hand holds the handle of a sword which appears to be metal, with the tip resting beside his proper right foot. His proper left arm is bent and holds a globe-like object at chest level. Figure stands in a decorative niche on church facade.

    Remarks: 
    Fernando III (1199-1252), King of Spain, was one of the greatest crusaders in the Roman Catholic world. He was canonized in 1671 and is the patron saint of the San Fernando Cathedral, the oldest cathedral sanctuary in the United States, built in 1731.
