Remarks:
Benjamin Wright was an architect and engineer for the Erie Canal. He was a resident of New York City at various times between 1825 and his death in 1842, and he was also a judge in Rome, New York. The artist was formerly thought to be Benjamin West, but this was later determined to be in error.
