Remarks:
John Ward Willson, II (1819-1863), was the husband of La Fayette Helene Medicus Willson, son of Rebecca Hill Willson, and father of William Medicus Willson and Ella Amelia Willson. The artist, John Sartain, lived with the Willson family and painted them at the family home, "Troy Hill," in Howard County, Maryland, near Laurel, ca. 1857.
