Hugh Parks Watson was born in York District, South Carolina and died in Montgomery, Alabama, where he was a hotel keeper by profession. He is buried Oakwood Cemetery. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 1836. He served as a lieutenant in the Alabama regiment during the Mexican War and as an adjutant general in the Alabama Militia, 1861-1865. He was a Grand Lodge Mason in Montgomery with Daniel Sayre and others. He married Sarah Sample Posey in Greenville, Butler County, Alabama in 1855, and they had two children --Jabez Curry Watson and William M. Watson.
