    Description: 
    A granite stele base adorned on the front with a rectangular bronze relief plaque depicting Horace Sprague with his body turned slightly to the left and his gaze directed off to the left. On the back of the stele is a rectangular bronze relief plaque depicting the Kingsborough Academy with a poem by Professor Sprague inscribed below. The plaques are installed on either side of a tall granite stele that carved in relief with two sets of double columns that flank each relief plaque.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial honors Professor Horace Sprague, A.M., principal of the Kingsborough Academy from 1838-1858. The sculpture was provided for in the will of Ruth A. Parsons who set aside a fund of $20,000-$30,000 for the erection of memorials to the two leading figures in the early development of Kingsboro, Presbyterian minister Dr. Elisha Yale and schoolmaster Horace Sprague IAS files contain an excerpt from "The Parsons' Memorials to Dr. Elisha Yale, Prof. Horace Sprague, and The Pioneers of Kingsborough," 1932, and a photocopy of the dedication booklet for the memorials to both Dr. Elisha Yale and Professor Horace Sprague.
