Albert Somerville (1829-1898) was born in Madison County, Virginia, the son of Dr. James Somerville and Helen Glassell Wallace Somerville. He attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa from 1843-1846, and he served as captain in Bates 13th Texas Regiment, C.S.A., Galveston. In 1856 he married Ann Craddock in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. They had no children.
