Portrait of Dohrman James Sinclair (1860-1915), a local businessman and industrialist responsible for many civic improvements to Steubenville, Ohio. The portrait was executed after Sinclair's tragic death in 1915, likely based on a photo taken when Sinclair was 55 years of age. The portrait was in the possession of the Sinclair family for about twenty years, and then it was displayed at the Union Savings Bank and Trust Company in the Sinclair Building in Steubenville, Ohio until about 1990. The Bank was sold and the new owners placed the portrait in storage where it remained until it was given to Mr. Lee Kinney of Steubenville, a former executive of the Union Savings Bank and Trust Company. In 2011, Mr. Kinney donated the painting to the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County to be placed in the Main Library Building (a Carnegie Building) where other portraits painted by Charles P. Filson are displayed.
