A relief plaque featuring a bust of Brigadier General Francis A. Shoup dressed in military uniform and wearing a mustache and beard. The lower portion of the plaque bears an inscription. The relief plaque is mounted on the front of the stele.

Remarks:
Brigadier General Francis A. Shoup of Louisiana commanded a brigade during the Vicksburg campaign from May 2 through July 4, 1863. Erected by the State of Louisiana. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 03437). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. Bronze cost $300 paid by state of Louisiana.
