A small rabbit and a basket of cherries are at his feet. Remarks:  Formerly attributed to an unknown artist. According to the Detroit Institute of Arts catalog (1991), although the painting is inscribed 1810, the costume of the child is from the 1840s. The inscription may have been a later addition.
