    Description: 
    Full-length standing figure of Rev. Schilling, founder of the Franciscan Monastery and Memorial Church of the Holy Land. He is attired in monastic robes, head bowed slightly, and proper right hand raised in benediction. In his proper left hand, he holds a model of the church he built.

    Remarks: 
    In 1897, Father Schilling took the first steps toward establishing an institution in America which was dedicated to preservation and maintenance of the Holy Shrines of Palestine, as part of the Order of St. Francis. He built the Franciscan Monastery and Memorial Church. The Monastery was dedicated in 1899; the church consecrated in 1924.
