A bronze bust of German poet Friedrich von Schiller is installed atop a tall stone shaft which rests on a flat rectangular base that is adorned with a stone bench at each end.

The sculpture was erected by German Americans in Anderson Park in 1908, but in 1964, it was moved by the city to Franklin Square, which was then renamed Schiller Park.
