    Description: 
    A young boy, Mauro Rossi, sits on the ground with his legs off to his proper right, his proper left elbow resting on a raised surface. He reads a book that he holds at chest level. He wears a collared shirt, belted pants, and is barefoot. A playful squirrel climbs up on his crossed proper right knee. The sculpture is mounted upon a rectangular, inscribed base.

    Donated by the Elberton Civic League in cooperation with Dan Ambrosini, owner of Dixie Granite Company. The Dixie Granite company suggested the idea for the sculpture, designed and fabricated the base. The child in the sculpture, Mauro Rossi, is the sculptor's son. IAS files contain a related article from the Elberton Graniteer (Spring 1971): cover, pg. 3.
