Born July 12, 1793 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania and died on March 1, 1870 in Wooster, Ohio. In June 5, 1821, married Elizabeth McConnell (born May 8, 1797). He established the first tannery in Wooster, Ohio in 1814, built a mill on Apple Creek, near Robison Road, in 1837. He served in the War of 1812.

David Robison Sr. (1793-1870) was born July 12, 1793 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. His father died when he was a boy and entering upon his teens he removed with his widowed mother to Columbiana county, Ohio, around 1806. He apprenticed and learned the trade of tanner and currier. When the war with Britain broke out in 1812, at 19 years old, he volunteered in the ranks of the United States army. Serving faithfully for the period of his enlistment, he was honorably discharged at the expiration of his term. In 1813, he and his brother Thomas set out through the woods of Ohio for a suitable place to set up a business. They visited Wooster and were impressed with it and promptly purchased property in the fledging community. In 1821 he was married to Elizabeth McConnell and they produced six sons. He established Robison's Tannery on the NW corner of Buckeye and North streets and in 1832 added to his business holding when he built Robison's Mill at the bottom of Madison Hill and continued in these businesses until 1837 when he moved with his family to the farmland above the mill on Madison Hill. He also obtained interests in merchandising businesses from 1837 to 1848 not only in Wooster, but in Fredericksburg, Jeromesville, Rowsburg, and Ashland. He was identified with the early banking interest of the county and was one of the incorporators of the Wayne County branch of the State Bank of Ohio serving as President for 15 years. David Robison Sr. died in March 1870.
