William Bryant Robinson was born 1807 in Forsyth, Georgia. He made bricks for a living and built a large part of the University of Alabama with his bricks. He died in 1865 in Arkansas, and is buried at Moses Chapel in Oacheta, Arkansas. In 1975, the AAUW BIAP Survey had reported the sitter's name as William Bird Robinson.
