Baby Alfred wears a white dress, with only one blue shoe, and sits on a bright red cloth. He points to the center. A hat is on the ground behind the red cloth. His brother, Robert, who is wearing a suit, has placed his hands around Alfred's waist. William Jr. is wearing a velvet suit and is seated on the ground, with one hand balancing him and the second hand holding Alfred's missing shoe. A multi-colored ball and stick lay on the ground in the foreground. An urn and flowers are at far right and at far left is a statue in the Tuileries garden.
