Description:
Four-year-old Chester Reynolds stands dressed in a fitted suit with a hip-length jacket, vest, pleated skirt, and a shirt with a lace-edged collar and cuffs and a small bow at the neck. Short bangs fall around his face, revealing his ears. Long curls drape onto his lace collar. He carries a bouquet of flowers in front of him with his proper left hand. A rock rests at the back of his proper right boot. The sculpture has a short square base.

Provenance:
Formerly located Harmony Cemetery, Route 525 West, Bartholomew County, Indiana until early 1970s.
Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned for the grave of Chester Reynolds by his parents. Chester died in 1889 at the age of four. The sculpture was carved in Italy using a photograph of the child. It was originally installed at the child's grave site in Harmony Cemetery on Route 525 West in rural Bartholomew County. In the early 1970s the sculpture was moved from the cemetery to the Bartholomew County Historical Museum after vandals had thrown it into a ditch.
