    Description: 
    The monument to Oliver Pollock includes at one end, a fountain with relief wall of soldiers, civilians and cannons and at the opposite end, a portrait head of Pollock, with adjoining relief. There are two low-standing bronze lecterns, one on each side of the rim of the rectangular area between the Fountain and the Monument. On one lectern there is an open book and on the other there is a map of the site of the 1179 Battle of Baton Rouge, together with an open book. Inscribed in both books is a history of Oliver Pollock, Bernardo de Galvez and the famous battle.

    Oliver Pollock (1737?-1823) was an Irish-born American businessman. The sculpture commemorates the victory of Spanish forces over the English in 1783 for control of Baton Rouge.
