    Portrait of a Native American seated with his body turned slightly to the left, his head turned three-quarters to the left, and his gaze directed off to the left. He wears a fringed buckskin shirt adorned with white animal pelts and red, black, and yellow designs. His long brown hair is in braids that fall over his shoulders and he wears two feathers at the back of his head. In his hands he holds a rifle horizontally in front of him, the rifle adorned with a fringed buckskin cover. In the background there is a motif depicting horses in shades of red, yellow, blue, and green.
