Description:
A sculpture of a pioneer woman carrying a young boy on her proper right hip. The woman appears to be striding across the prairie, waving a windswept towel in her upraised proper left hand. The boy clutches a ball in his proper right hand. He is barefoot and his knee pokes through his bib-overalls. The sculpture is placed atop a slightly tapered base.

Remarks:
The artist began work on the piece in 1983. It was commissioned by Thomas County for the county's centennial in 1985. The sculpture cost $35,000 and it funded by donations from county residents. The artist's wife, Pat Norton, and the couple's son, Carson, were the models for the sculpture.
