    A circular bronze relief plaque with a portrait of Dr. William T. G. Morton is installed on the front of a granite stele.

    Remarks: 
    In 1919, a committee was formed to erect a memorial to Charlton native, Dr. William T. G. Morton, a dentist who discovered the anaesthetic propertied of ether. The local committee was later joined by a state committee whose members were politicians, heads of dental schools, and heads of hospitals. The sculpture was begun by T. J. McAuliffe and finished by Florence Joseph McAuliffe.
