HE WAS/DEVOUT IN HIS BELIEF IN GOD AND WAS A LOVER OF THE BEAUTIFUL./HE BELIEVED IN THE VALUE OF WHOLESOME RECREATION AND/COMPETITIVE SPORTS IN THE TRAINING OF YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN./HIS GREAT CONTRIBUTION WAS AN INTERPRETATION OF THAT/PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LYNN WOODS/RESERVATION OF LYNN'S PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS THE MUNICIPAL/GOLF COURSE MANNING BOWL AND FRASER FIELD. LYNN'S BEAUTIFUL TREES AND COLORFUL FLOWERS IN THE PARKS HERALDED THE RETURN/OF EACH SPRING. HIS CREATIVE GENIUS AND INSPIRING LEADERSHIP/HAVE LEFT A RICH HERITAGE FOR GENERATIONS YET UNBORN. unsigned

    A rectangular granite stele with a bronze relief plaque depicting John P. Morrissey, former Lynn Superintendent of Parks and Playgrounds. The bottom of the plaque is adorned with relief images of children playing on swings, playing ring around the rosy, and playing baseball.
