Formerly located Marland Estate, Ponca City, Oklahoma 1927-1951.
Remarks:
Originally installed on the Marland Estate, the sculpture was moved in 1951 to its present site. It had been commissioned by Ernest Whitworth (E. W.) Marland along with sculpted portraits of his wife and son. Marland was a businessman and one-time Governor of Oklahoma. The sculpture was moved after being found on the estate, which had since become the property of two religious orders. When it was dedicated in 1951, it was deeded to the City by the Marland family. The site was a civic center in 1951 and it is now City Hall. IAS files include a related article from the Ponca City News, Oct. 22, 1996.
