Description:
A relief plaque attached to one side of a large four-sided square structure with a pyramid-shaped top. The relief plaque contains a portrait of Maximiliano Luna enclosed within a laurel-like wreath with laurel branches fanning out on each side. Maximiliano Luna wears a cavalry cap and a military coat with the insignia "N.M." on each side of the neck lapel. The portrait sits at the top of an inscribed plaque.

Remarks:
Maximiliano Luna, 1870-1899, served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the Territory of New Mexico in 1899. He served as the Captain for Troop F of the First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry, also known as "Rough Riders," and was a First Lieutenant for the 34th U.S. Volunteer Infantry. He died in the discharge of duty in the Philippine Islands on November 18th, 1899. Nearby plaque reads: COMMITTEE/COL.HARRY S.BERRY/GEN.RUSSELL CHARLTON/SEN. GEORGE ARMIJO/JUNE 6, 1943.
