Dimensions:  Medallion: approx. 20 x 16 x 5 in.; Base: approx. 87 x 58 x 40 in. Inscription:  (Base, front, incised on scroll:) SYDNEY J. JOHNSON/BORN/FEB. 12, 1866,/DIED/MAR. 17, 1899. Description:  An oval bas-relief bust profile of a clean-shaven man, perhaps Sydney J. Johnson, with curly hair, wearing a bow tie, high collar, and jacket. The relief is inset into the smooth, recessed, middle section of a large, rough-hewn block. The recess also has an open polished scroll with an inscription partially covering a curved, leafy branch.
