    View of the Twining Farm near Newtown, Pennsylvania where Edward Hicks was raised. In the right foreground, a young Hicks is seen seated at the knee of Elizabeth Twining, his guardian, listening to the Scriptures. Nearby a man opens the gate to an animal pen filled with cows, sheep, and pigs. In the middle ground, a man guides a plow pulled by two horses. Nearby, a man and a woman prepare to ride. In the background is the farmhouse, well, and barn.
