Ward in memory of Dr. Lincoln Goodale, the area's first physician. signed Founder's mark appears.

Remarks:
Commissioned and funded by the City of Columbus and the executors of the estate of Lincoln Goodale. Cost: $5,470. The subject of the monument, Dr. Lincoln Goodale (1782-1868), donated Goodale Park to the City of Columbus. The architect of the monument's base was Richard Morris Hunt. The plaque located at the bottom of the base is new, having been donated July 14, 1991. IAS files contain copy of article from Ohio Citizens Journal, Sept. 27, 1888, which discusses the commissioning, funding, cost, and dedication of the monument, as well as biographical information about Lincoln Goodale.
