Harold Freedlander (1913-2002), was born in Wooster in 1913, to Herman and Edna (Anthony) Freedlander. He graduated from Wooster High School in 1931 and Harvard College in 1935. With the exception of a four-year stint in the U.S. Army during World War II, he spent his entire career at the family department store business until retiring at age 75. He married Lois (Rubin) Freedlander in 1939 and they had two daughters: Ann and Mary a.k.a. “Mimi." The Freedlander family has been very visible in community service, donating money for parks, playground equipment, a theater and a swimming pool. The family also donated land to help create Boys Village. The grandson of David Freedlander, and last member of the historic Wooster merchant family to lead H. Freedlander Co. department store died in 2002.
