"Krehbiel entered a competition in 1907 to design and paint the eleven walls and two ceiling murals for the Supreme and Appellate Court Rooms in Springfield, Illinois. A total of twenty-two designs were submitted by some of the best artists throughout the United States. The Jury of Awards was unanimous in granting the commission to Krehbiel."
