    A standing portrait of John Dempster dressed in his fireman's hat and coat. His proper right hand is extended as if he is about to shake hands. The sculpture rests on top of a low square concrete base.

    Remarks: 
    Capt. John T. Dempster was responsible for setting up one of the most comprehensive firefighting networks in New Jersey. This sculpture honoring Dempster was commissioned with $15,000 raised by firemen from all over the state. IAS files contain an article from Princeton Alumni Weekly (Dec. 14, 1981): pg. 13-15;
    The inscription on a granite marker in front of the base reads: CAPTAIN JOHN T. DEMPSTER SR./1894-1980/A LOVING TRIBUTE FROM MERCER/COUNTY FIRE COMPANIES, AUXILIARIES, AND/FIRE SERVICE SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS.
