    Remarks: 
    Claybourne Butler Cotton was born in 1848 in Cotton Town, Tennessee, a town named for his family, and died in Sept. of 1921 in Little Rock. He was a descendant of the Rev. John Cotton of New England. He lived for several years in Missouri before coming to Yell County, Arkansas, in 1860, settling near Dardanelle. His first wife was Allie Conlee of Old Lewisburg, Arkansas. His second wife was Maggie Bell Limbard who died about 1908/1909. His third wife was Emma Ethel Cook, whom he married in July of 1911. He was the instigator of the first pontoon bridge across the Arkansas River at Dardanelle. He was also the owner of a gristmill, a sawmill, a distillery, and an ice factory. He owned the first automobile in Yell County. He was vice president and organizer of the Peoples Bank in Dardanelle. He invented the "loose roll" system of cotton ginning.
