Dimensions:  Approx. 10 1/2 x 22 x 19 ft. (40 tons). Inscription:  (Bottom front, proper right:) MALIS/1979 signed Description:  Seven vignettes appear in relief on a serpentine-shaped wall. The vignettes depict African-American history, starting with life in Africa, slavery in the U. S., emancipation, farming, black contributions to music and sports, and ending with the Civil Rights Movement. Among those depicted in the vignettes: Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcom X, Thurgood Marshall, Mary McCloud, Frederick Douglas, Althea Gibson, John Carlos and Mohammed Ali.
